I’m Karen Silvey and it's my pleasure to welcome you to the Young Explorers family. I earned my teaching degree from Bowling Green State University. Since then I have been working with children and volunteering my time to them for nearly 20 years. They make me laugh every day! Their willingness to trust and love encourages me to do the same and be the best version of myself. When I’m not at work, I spend my time with my family. I have the privilege of raising two wonderful sons. We love family game nights that involve pizza, music and board games or cards.
I am very excited to be joining the Young Explorers team. I went to Muskingum University where I obtained my Bachelors of Arts degree in Childhood and Family Studies. I have a double minor in Sociology and Psychology. I am originally from Independence Ohio, where I currently live now, my husband and I just moved back from California where I worked as a lead preschool teacher for four years. In my free time, I love to play volleyball, read, and spend time with friends and family at our lake house on Catawba Island. I love that children all have their own personalities and learn in their own way. That's why I love Young Explorers, because their curriculum is based on learning at the children's own pace. I look forward to working with and developing a relationship with your families.
